what’s on the drawing board

Since the closet mess and the party flag mess is all put away it is time to treat myself to junk robot mess. I’ve been collecting stuff for a year now. With a recent windfall of junk I now have more than enough to make a few junk robot sculptures. My ever ready assistant John has helped take a few things apart. And my poison control expert Phil has advised how to empty and wash out little containers marked POISON. More on this as some little robots start to emerge.

I am currently engrossed in Cooking Doodles. And there might also be a Cooking Doodles Too. With the amount of detail in my drawings I can only get about 30 illustrations in one font. Since there are so many things to draw I may end up with a 2 font family. This is quite fun and moving along nicely.

Also started is Nautical Doodles. And…

Beach Doodles. While I am working on Cooking Doodles I am generally just thinking about these last two. If there is an image you need in any of these categories please leave a comment and I’ll see what I can do.

So what is on your drawing board these days?

I draw. Doodle fonts, hand lettered fonts, on the computer, on paper, & in my head where I live most of the time.

Hey there Rae. I ran into Barb at a Chinese place Sunday & asked about you. You can google my name if you want to bring yourself up to date on the ole printing buddy. Bless you & all our memories. CLIFF LeCleir

Rae,
I’m really intrigued by the robots and look forward to see them as they develop. Hopefully, you’ll deny them sentience: I wouldn’t want to become the minion of some bucket of bolts from Wisconsin.

Also: What’s with the containers marked POISON? How do they fit into your evil plan?

Doug… the Poison containers had some oily rifle cleaner liquid in them. My friend Phil, the expert, said it would only kill you if you drank a small amount. The containers are small and I think they will be bodies. I do have one GrrlBot done. I like her, she is a little sassy.

I enjoy your work so much! Couldn’t resist your invitation to offer ideas of images “I need” for consideration in your future Nautical Doodle font. My list has been “living in my head” for some time and well, since you asked. My first beg would be a small single sail boat that kids learn to sail in – for example, a Sabot (only 8′ long, no jib). In quick succession, I’d love to see a couple burgees – maybe one empty of design in the burgee “pennant” shape, rope, a bowline knot (universal to all sailors), a marker or buoy, a life vest, a starfish, an image for the wind and sun….. I’d include your pelican from New Orleans and your other sea shells, anchor, knot etc. in Lake Vacation. Your initial images above are terrific. A seal??? Egad!! surely I’m forgetting some important ones……
