Big Cottonwood...

Stopped at this huge tree this AM on my ride back from the neighborhood grocery store. Poor big thing has been damaged in storms this year. I have no idea how old it is. It is in a little park at the end of our street. I guess the city came out to do an evaluation of its heath this morning. I hope it does not have to come down. It is an amazing tree.

And this is today's ebay auction...

Party Boat...

Another interesting thing on our lake... this party boat. It appears to be just what it looks like - a screened in porch with a deck on barrels. And it goes pretty fast too. Would love to rent it but it is rumored to be $120/hr. Plans are that we will probably get a canoe next year and I am going to learn to swim over the Winter.

New light fixture...

Here is a new Pottery Barn light fixture that we just got. Ours is still in the box. It will go over the eating area and the 42" white table. Can't wait to see it up. We will see if John can do it or if we need an electrician. Making strides here. Still a full basement of boxes and things that have not seen the light of day in over a year. I was delighted to see a vase my friend Pam gave me just before we packed up. I forgot I had it and it really looks nice here. Like getting a nice gift twice.

We finally got a plumber in and he fixed probably 8 irritating things... from a sink that did not drain to one that had no water to the ice maker in the fridge. We have ice, lots of ice, lovely ice. It really is the little things. Less luck with the intermittent internet service. They have now been here twice with not much luck. The whole building needs to be rewired. But we are chipping away at it.

Weed Eater Machines

Here is another interesting thing on the lake... these weed eater machines. They troll the lake scooping up long weeds that grow near the shore. I heard that because of budget restrictions they will be coming by less often. John thinks living here we don't need TV... that it is a 24 hour Nova Channel. We also see big fish jumping out of the water. Each day the lake looks different too. Some days it is smooth as glass and other days it is angry with white caps. And of course it changes color too from gray to blue to algae green. Very, very different from our past suburbia land-locked homes.
