Begginner Swimmer...

aturday we spent 7 hours in our basement sorting through boxes that went into storage almost 2 years ago. During this sorting process John awarded me with this Beginner Swimmer button. I am delighted to have this. First because it is so darn cute and 50ish. Second because I am really proud that I learned to swim this Winter.

I did this to rehab a knee injury and because we would like to get kayaks. Previous to my darling husband teaching me to swim I was panicked to be in a craft when I knew the water was over 5 feet deep. I was sure that if I flipped in a canoe I would panic. That was obviously unsafe for me and for anyone else I would be with. It was amazing, John taught me to first tread water and then to swim in one session. I am not a strong swimmer or a pretty swimmer (I won't get my hair wet or put my face in the water.) but if I end up in deep water I won't panic and will know what to do. And that was my goal.
