NEW! Wilderness Doodles!

Inspired by a trip to Alaska, here is Wilderness Doodles. A collection of 30 illustrations of water, trees and mountains. Silhouettes of animals and other outdoorsy Northwoods camping items.

I've had someone ask, but Rae what do I DO with these cute little drawings? Well, I'll show you. This font really has a lot of uses. It does help if you use a program like Illustrator and know how to enlarge the font by choosing a larger point size. But I'll assume you have that working knowledge.

This one is even easier. Make a colored square. Enlarge the bear and color him. Using a digital brush create some white area over the bear’s face and shadow. Send that back, so it is behind the bear. Add and colorize the copy. I used Plz Print Bold Condensed in all caps. Seems to go with the bear and had a bit of a birthday party feel.

OK, one more.

How easy was that? Just color the graphic and add some copy.

It you made it this far you should get a medal. But you also might be interested in buying Wilderness Doodles. You can buy it here and it is 25% off. Have fun creating some wonderful wilderness graphics!

almost spring, more knitting, good soup & font promos

another post following the theme that it is still Winter ish here. I am now going to say it is almost Spring. I just noticed yesterday that there is water right next to our retaining wall. That is serious cause for celebration!!! But there is still an awful lot of frozen lake out there. But it is starting to get that mushy look.

Here is a cute pair of Scrunchy Ombre Arm Warmers. This is also from KnitPicks and uses the same yarn as I used for the Frida Mitts. This is washable wool. And they got even softer after being washed.

I am still making Chicken Gnocchi Soup. This soup you can make last minute and it is very forgiving. I use it as a base soup and then add extra veggies that I have. Sometimes I use a roasted chicken or even canned chicken in a pinch. It is always good. I prefer the Trader Joe's gnocchi as it seem to be a little smaller. This is a make it and eat it soup rather than a simmer all day type of soup.

new! rsvp brush

The never-ending font is finally done. Big. Bold. Brush.

RSVP Brush is a fresh, bold, confident brush font. The bigger the better... great for posters, signs, a headline or a small block of copy. Versatile and quirky. Turn on Contextual Alternates in supporting programs so multiple letters do not repeat.

What took so long with this font? I drew it on my iPad using the robust drawing program called Procreate. But that meant that I had to learn the program (quite easy) and create a new brush (less easy). But I am happy to have those new skills in my bag of tricks.

I also learned how to add contextual alternates. The short story is if you use programs like the Adobe Suite which supports that feature and if you turn on that feature when you type the program will randomly switch out the alternate character and make your typeset type look more hand lettered. Now that I know how to do this I'll add more to future fonts.

RSVP Brush is somewhat of a remake of the 1998 font Plz Print Brush. That was maybe my second font. And 87 fonts later I can make a better crafted font.

And for a limited time it is 50% off!

What to make next? I am taking a modern calligraphy class, but would really like to do a doodle font next. I've had suggestions for Around the World Doodles and Beach Doodles.... Any other thoughts? If so please leave a comment.
