dropbox

this week we are getting all 3 of our laptops upgraded to Lion and Dropbox. Had a great visit to the Apple Store to figure out what we needed for each of the older computers. Mobile Me is going away in June so we are getting down to the wire.

While I always had problems with MM iCloud replaces that. And I am under the impression that Dropbox works well. You might be wondering why you would ever use it. Well... if you are a grandparent and the kids upload little videos of the cutest little boy in Chicago you can go and view them. I do not yet know how to do this, just that it can be done. How I will use this is as a replacement for Mobile Me? I used MM to put all my font files in the Cloud. That served as an additional back up as well as I place I could get to my data if I was not home. If I was traveling and someone needed a font I could go to any computer, go to the Cloud and email the font.

And of course there is an app for that. Apps are available for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry, plus a mobile website, Dropbox has you covered no matter where you are.

The basic Dropbox service is free for 2 GB of space. You can pay for more space. If you do not have Dropbox and you sign up using this link http://db.tt/CIPdIPTN Dropbox will give both you and me each an additional 500 MB of bonus space.

I hope this works for you, and remember to get things moved before MM goes away. That goes for any websites that you may have made with iWeb and are hosting on the MM site too. June will be here before we know it.
